Drugs raids across Southend
11:19am Wednesday 8th February 2012

POLICE have carried out 20 drugs raids across Southend this morning.
A hundred officers were brought in to bash down doors in search of class A drugs.
They arrested 13 people after gathering intelligence since last October
The first phase happened at about 7.30am when they carried out simultaneous busts.
These included an address in Station Road, Westcliff, where no one was inside.
This led police on to Malvern flats, in Coleman Street, in an effort to catch their man there.
But again the flat was empty.
Another raid happened at a flat in Hainault Avenue, Westcliff, where a drugs dog was sent inside but nothing was found.
Phase two of the operation happened at 9.30am with another series of busts co-ordinated by a fresh team of officers.
They stormed a flat in Palmerston Road, Westcliff, and arrested a man on suspicion of drugs offences.
